CC 12.1.2: Bugs that have not been fixed or even acknowledged by Adobe

$

I know this forum is not being monitored by Adobe.

I have reported every single one of those bugs and even more on Adobe's Wishform and on UserVoice.

I'm tired of waiting a bug-free release. I know we can't have 100% bug free software, but all we ask is at least 50% bug free. We need to somehow, get the job done...

BUGS

1. No audio on project open, playback or export. Solo-Unsolo trick stopped working. Only solution is to restart Premiere. Adobe said it was fixed

2. Workspace change causes immediate crash. Only solution is to fit all windows in one workspace. Say goodbye to productivity. Has been acknowledged by Adobe.

3. Lumetri Scopes will sometimes display a white screen instead of the scopes.

4. Audio-ducking still doesn't work as supposed. You can blame it along with Audition integration for the whole chaos on Premiere on 12.0 and above.

5. Premiere still doesn't preserve workspace settings (metadata, bin view, timecode panels) on new projects. You have to reset to saved layout each and every time.

6. Sometimes when you insert or overwrite a clip in timeline, it doesn't appear. You have to move the playhead or do something else to see it.

7. Dynamics as a track insert effect will cause static noise on gaps. Again, thank Audition integration for this.

8. Motion and effect handles still disappear randomly. You can only move things numerically when this happens.

9. Audio shifts on EQ track effects (Subtle Boost, Dynamics, etc.) using Essential Sound or stand-alone. Spend hours trying to find the cause on a project.

10. Titles have the worst anti aliasing ever when playing the sequence. It even changes the font's strength. It's fine if it's paused or when exported.

3 months were more than enough to solve most if not all of them, but Adobe's 12.1.2 patch release was only to solve the famous disabled search box.

Thanks Adobe for the 1 out of 11.

Convert your audio in media encoder to 48khz WAV or AIFF. Never use mp3 or other compressed audiofiles.

Project Manager broken? It fails with "An unknown error occurred during the Project Manager operation."

Hi all.

I'm trying to use the Project Manager as I normally do when I'm mostly done with an edit: "Collect files and copy to new location" for color correction and audio post, excluding unused clips. Those are the only checked settings in the dialog.

On my latest project, this fails less than a second after it starts "analyzing project." It worked fine on a different project yesterday. The one it's failing on probably has a less-complicated structure; it's pretty simple.

Anybody have insights on this, or workarounds?

This is Premiere Pro 12.1.2 on Mac OS 10.13.6.

Thanks!

Hello,

are you also experiencing these issues on CC2017? I kept a CC2017 install to do most on my work on it as it was working perfectly on my system, and only use CC2018 when I need one of the new features such as upgraded mogrts.

I know this is not a solution to your issues, but I hope this workaround will work for you,

All the best,

Seb

Hello,

in the bottom left of your screenshot, can you change the "source range" from 'Custom' to 'entire sequence' (or something named similarly)?

Moving this to Premiere Pro as you've posted in the Lounge. The lounge is for general discussions.

New Premier Pro user - Choppy playback using 4K iPhone 8 footage

Hi,

I am relatively new to Premier Pro, and to video editing in general, so calling myself a novice at this sort of thing is a compliment.

I am currently undergoing a small video project within my work place, in which I have been tasked with recording and editing a 2 minute video clip. I have used an iPhone 8 to record the required footage and I have filmed in 4K at 30fps (3840 x 2160). I have uploaded the footage to Premier Pro but I have noticed that the playback is rather choppy and extremely slow. I believe that this is possibly due to the system that I am currently editing on (details below), and that it can't cope with the 4K clip that has been uploaded. I have also tried playing the clip outside of Premier Pro and it still produces the same results.

Upon research I have read that creating a proxy version of the clip will allow me to edit and playback in a lower resolution, thus delivering a smoother playing video with the same 4K quality after exporting the clip. After carefully following the correct steps I was able to create a proxy version of the clip that rendered it to 1024 x 540 (GoPro CineForm), but to no avail. After toggling between proxies, I noticed that there was little to no difference in the playback of the clip, apart from the reduced quality that proxy had produced. It still played extremely slow and with some lag.

Was hoping to find out if there are other methods of getting a more smoother playback of my 4K footage in Premier Pro, whether it be different proxy settings or a new idea completely.

System specifications:

Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v2 @ 2.80GHz

                  2.80 GHz (2 processors)

Installed RAM: 5.00GB

System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Yes! After spending several hours googling, updating drivers etc. and even having Adobe support take control of my laptop. I found out it was windows media player! Downloaded VLC 3.0 and it worked fine! -_- wish I thought to check the media player sooner!

Rendering the timeline over and over again

I close a projekt and the timelines are rendered.

When I open the projekt again, the timelines are not rendered, so I have to do it again.

Do someone out there know why?

Best

Synchronizing two videos + audio

$

I have the following issue:

I want to do a compilation of (essentially) the same video with from two different people with face cams, so I pick out one video where I just crop out the face cam and put it on top of the other video of which I keep the whole thing. Technically they have the same audio, but the two videos aren't 100% synchronized. If I mute one audio track then obviously the audio doesn't match with one of the face cams. Now the obvious solution would be to make sure both videos start at the same time, but for some reason it's just hard to get it right.

I'm at the very beginning of trying to get into video editing and don't have much experience with Premiere. If there are any other solutions or tips and tricks for this, I would really appreciate it!

Hi Björne,

can you check your "Media Cache" preferences, to make sure that it's not deleted too soon ?

Also, does this happen if you close the project and reopen it right after, or is it happening if you work on other project in between?

Thank you yenaphe, there are three settings there and I tried all of them but nonetheless my problem is solved. I asked someone to help me only to discovered that way down the timeline there was a clip I though was deleted. I don't know how that could have caused the problem but after I deleted it everting was ok. Thank you for taking time out to try and help me.

What would be the best suggestion to export the video and encode in Handbrake? I'm trying to have smooth gradients for my video, and also high quality.

Hi and thank´s for your answer!

You are right, if I open the projekt very soon after having closed it I don´t have to render it again.

So I will do as you suggest, check my "Media Cache preferences".

Thanks!

Ok, this looks like a media cache issue (like your disk is full so older cache files needs to be deleted, etc...)

Hope these settings will resolve your issue.

Seb

Hi Inquestflash,

if you can see the banding on the gradients in your timeline, there's not much you can do during the encode process.

You can try to add a little bit of grain/noise on your gradient to help dither the banding though.

Hope this helps,

Seb

Premiere Pro CC 2018 stuck on locating media (2)

I have a very simple edit comp with only video files (i.e. no after effects comps) but when files are moved it opens and briefly displays the "Locating Media" alert box then it simply gets stuck. It does not display anything and the only option is to force quit.

I saw the previous post but this seemed specific to comps with AE Comps.

I am using a WIndows 10 Pro PC.

Intel i7-7820X CPU

128GB RAM

(There is a reason I am moving the files, I am using this to relink to files in a different location with the same name. Long story, to do with stereoscopic 3d.)
