Pro Res? Is that on the chopping block?

Hello Peru Bob, I had actually uninstalled my driver and then reinstalled it from scratch. So rolling back does not appear to be an option. I wish it was. I too believe it is video card related but have no way to test my suspicions. Though AE works fine. Without a glitch.

GPU Acceleration Required

I keep getting a red banner that shows up over my timeline AND when exported into an mp4 files. It just says "This Effect Requires GPU Acceleration" despite the face I have CUDA enabled and have a GTX 970. I do have 5 video effects and on that one part, but it's still there even have it's rendered and runs smooth.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Josh,

Check and update your Intel device driver. This issue might not occur with 15.60.2.4901 version of the Intel device driver.

Also, uncheck the option in Preferences>Media which says "Enable Hardware Accelerated Decoding"

Let us know if it helps.

Preview laggy altough using proxies

Hello together!

I am experiencing a stuttering preview in Premiere Pro, altough my hardware should be decent enough to handle it. I tried several solutions, but nothing helped unfortunately. Maybe anyone here comes up with a good idea!

What´s also weird is, that we are using a iMac with similar hardware, which is having no performance issues. We use two computers running windows, which both have the same problems when using Premiere Pro.

Here are the steps I tried

1.) Tried Mercury Playback - Software only / CUDA

2.) Disabled Intel´s h.264 acceleration (and cold boot afterwards)

3.) Using proxies

4.) Copying all data to the SSD (usually editing on NAS)

5.) Cleared Media Cache

6.) Assigned as much RAM as possible to Premiere Pro

7.) High Quality Playback disabled

8.) Preview size set to 1/4

9.) Nvidia Control is set to max. Performance

I also read about problems with .mov files. All my files are in mp4 though.

My system uses:

- Xeon x5670

- 16 GB RAM

- GTX 1060

- NAS with 10 Gbit of speed

Change in export file video quality and file size, but no settings altered

I've been working on a series of videos and today the latest export suffered the issues mentioned in the header. The same settings have been used throughout the project. I went back and exported a previous file (which has exported fine) to check if it was an problem local to the newer file, but the same problem occurred. The export file quality was very poor but the size had jumped 200MB, all without altering any of the settings. Any ideas?

I did not solve it. I've continued to use the gear 360 Action Director for the time being.

Hi Justin,

Can you please confirm if the issue that you were facing has been resolved or not? In the latest update (v12.1.2), we fixed several issues around files importing as audio only. In case if it hasn't been fixed yet please let us know and I will be glad to assist you.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Man, I feel your pain.  I wish Adobe would focus on fixing every bug on one version before introducing any new features.  I keep updating in hopes that it will fix an old bug, only to find new features with new bugs.

My fix for "no sound" on project open is to solo any audio track and play the sequence.  The solo track always comes up for me.  Then unclick solo and all the tracks play correctly.  I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, this trick stopped working for me since I updated. Now I have to restart to get Audio back.

Hi Angelos,

First: Make sure that the Premiere Pro is updated to 12.1.2.

Second: Delete all Media Cache manually by checking the location under Preferences>Media cache and then renaming the folders.

FAQ: How to clean (delete or trash) media cache files?

Once done restart the machine and try again.

Please share a screen grab of Export Settings panel so we may review the settings. Any possibility the Sequence Settings accidentally changed from what you've used before?

Thanks

Hi miahidema,

In the latest update of Premiere Pro (v12.1.2), we fixed several issues around files importing as audio only.

Let us know if updating Premiere Pro resolves this issue.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Then as PP is more RAM and CPU addicted application it seems that your files are not that big that it will need GPU usage

There was an PP update which came out very recently , maximum within 48 hours, do you have this update ? maybe after that your issue will be solved

Hi Jeff,

I’ve attached a screen shot of the settings and I have checked them against an older version and can not understand why it’s happening. On the original video it was +5MB, then you’ll see on the screen shot below the estimated size is 3MB but then it’s coming out at +6MB (2nd screen shot)

Thanks for your help

Kind regards,

Karen
