Audition might be the better tool for this one.
Re: Accelerating sound adjustments
Re: Lost files
Any files that were not backed up before you formatted the hard drive are gone forever.
Re: Toggle full screen not working randomly....
Is this a second monitor, or a replacement monitor (running only the one)?
Re: Dealing with long video files, a discussion.
The longest files I ever deal with are about 3 hours (Hindu wedding ceremony). I always keep the original.
Re: How To Work With spanned Long-Form MOV clips
To the best of my knowledge, .mov files do not contain the necessary metadata for stitching to occur. They always come in as separate files.

Re: Why can't I toggle a hold keyframe on a mask
Having spent 20 years as a programmer I know that all too well.
What makes this so frustrating is that the temporal settings are grayed out on the context menu, implying that you could set them if only you knew the extra-special secret method.
Re: Premiere Pro CC 2018 crashes on start
Hey everyone
I had the same problem in spite of having a gamer computer: Premiere Pro was very slow and crashed every times in
- importing video/ audio files by menu > file> import or ctrl + i
- saving au new copy of the project
- Saving as...
- adding adjustement layers...
I SOLVED this issues by downloading the CUDA Toolkit 9.1 by Nvidia
Execut it and don't forget to reboot your computer.
I hope it will help you

Re: Audio and Video Sync Problem after Update to Premiere 2018
My side business is web design, mainly for our media production clients, but I also have a few brochure sites running for some small companies. After the release, and my testing of Adobe Muse, I and many, many others decided to switch platforms, adopting Muse as our design/development tool. Converting our sites to the Muse platform took time, as well as the learning curve itself.
I say all of this because Adobe just announced that it is scrapping Adobe Muse altogether, effectively abandoning all of it's user base. I'm now beginning to fear that the same could possibly happen with Premiere at some point, and the recent apparent lack of concern for the many long term bugs and, including the one this thread is about, is indicative of this future. Not to mention(oops...I am) the most incredible bug ever released in an alpha version, the deletion of all media files.
Re: How many generations of .mp4 till quality degrades?
bitrates super high do increase generation copies. you can even have lossless mpeg4 if quantisizer is infinite. rc at 16 is good for probably 3 or more generations. these files are massive(close to 444 rgb uncompressed) and wavelet codecs listed above are gentler on visual artifacts. try cineform at level 5 to test. our eyes are more sensitive to luma than chroma, but if you export a 4:2:0 several times, you're quartering chroma each time you do it even if its not readily apparent. which means being able to greenscreen key stops after 1 generation, and being able to grade, after 2. also, any 2nd gen gamma color correction will not survive an 8 bit export, as talked about below. it's essentially 'burned in' permanently.
444 vs 422
8 vs 10 bit

Re: How many generations of .mp4 till quality degrades?
well, I think based on all the tests I did it just makes since for me to convert AVCHD to .mp4 and then when I export it for final use I'll export a quality 4 cineform file and then use that as my master to export other formats. Also from now on I'm going to just record in .mp4 since I can easily manage those files easier inside of windows 10. AVCHD won't let me add tags or anything to windows explorer but I can with .mp4 Then I'll just make proxy files using cineform 1 low quality as proxy files and then edit with those.
Re: How many generations of .mp4 till quality degrades?
i'd do some extreme grading tests before committing 100% to this workflow. particularly the highlights and shadows if you're not keeping original footage. zoom in 400% and make sure you're not cutting yourself off from future grading opportunity. having 1/8 color information is not something I would want personally, but maybe you can get away with it.

Re: How many generations of .mp4 till quality degrades?
what exactly are you talking about? filming in .mp4 should be not different than filming in AVCHD. I can color correct AVCHD fine it's just that I can't rename the .mts clips in the AVCHD card folder structure without ruining the clips.

Re: Can't hear audio when I solo the track.
So turns out it doesn't even matter if the track is solo'd.
It does not playback with sound ---despite visible levels on playback, and audible sound in source monitor.
Oddly enough, this track also did not sync up in MultiClip syncing.
Re: Can't Merge Clips Split Due To Fat32 4gb File Size
Are you trying to save the merged clips onto the camera's memory card? If the card that you're using is 32 GB or smaller, it would always be formatted as FAT32, which cannot handle file sizes larger than 3.99 GB. If you want to merge clips, you must first copy all of the contents of that memory card onto your computer's hard drive or SSD, then work on the copies of those files.
Re: Can't Merge Clips Split Due To Fat32 4gb File Size
No, I'm referring to when everything is already on the timeline. After audio has been synced with the clips. Here's the workflow: Offload 4k footage. Sync footage with pluraleyes. Import footage into Premiere. Sort footage with sync audio into takes. Merge clip with the takes. However, when you're working with clips that have been split due to file size, you cannot merge clips.
Sorry for the confusion and thank you for the reply.
Re: Can't Merge Clips Split Due To Fat32 4gb File Size
I would suggest you to format the SD card to exFAT format which will allow you to store more than 4GB of data in a single file.
Refer this for more details - Canon Knowledge Base - How Do I Format a Memory Card? (EOS 5D Mark IV)
To import Camera split clips you can use Premiere pro Media browser to import the files into the premiere pro, Media browser should show the clips as one video clip instead of multiple video clips spilt by camera - read more about it here - Merging Files Split By Video Camera
If you have already imported the media and formatted the media card than best solution seems is nesting the clips.
Re: Can't Merge Clips Split Due To Fat32 4gb File Size
After reading that article, it seems the only way to format the card to exfat is to have a CF card that is 128gb or over? Unless I can format the card with exfat on the computer, although I've never heard of that. I'll give it a go.
In terms of importing with media browser, I'm syncing in pluraleyes first, then importing. Using media browser would be difficult in that situation.
