Alas some good features disappear.

If you want Adobe to create toggles: let it be known.

I'm thinking that this is a graphics issue, either software or hardware.

Two ways ...

  • in the ECP showing on your screen, set Rotation to 90 degrees.

Or ...

  • Open the sequence settings for that sequence (Sequence/Sequence Settings) ...
  • swap the horizontal and vertical numbers in the Frame Size area.

It's unfortunate the original editor didn't test the entire work flow (and discover his error) before committing down this path.  I think your 'best' option may be to redo the work in the correct sequence, with new assets if necessary.  I'm not sure you can get away with a shortcut here.

Re: Import DPX Files into Premiere Pro CC

You have to have a numbered sequence without any distruptions first in your file sequence. Next you need to use the pull down menu to the right of the selection window and select Cineon (cin./dpx.). Then just highlight the first frame in the sequence and import. This should solve your problem. I don't know why they have the Image Sequence box there as it stays grayed out all the time. You used to be able to select this in the past. Kind of confusing.

Black Magic Output levels

If I import a full range (CV O - 254) dpx sequence onto the timeline and look at the output on the scope via a Blackmagic card the levels come out at CV 16-235. Even worse when I import narrow range (CV 16-235) dpx sequence onto the timeline and look at the output on the scope via a Blackmagic care the levels are squeezed even more. Is there anything in the settings that can fix this issue?

The built-in video limiter (new in CC2018) handles all of this without issue. You can feed it both luma and chroma out of gamut and it will fix it fairly seamlessly.

It sounds like its failing as its expecting a file that is "video level" but the file you're providing is video levels. If its for broadcast, its going to require video levels, not data levels (which is what you're providing).

2019 now requires 2 GB of GPU VRAM, and recommends 4 GB of GPU VRAM.

How much VRAM do you have?

Hi CapSea,

Do you see this gamma shift when comparing the same clip between VLC and QuickTime?

Thanks,

Try resetting the preferences:

FAQ: How to reset preferences in Premiere Pro?

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:

Reset a workspace

Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
    • Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn’t work,,try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

Thanks for the fast reply Vidya.

Yes, it appears to happen with all file formats. I also tried some 4k .mp4 files from a Sony a7s II. There isn't any security or firewall running on the PC.

After reinstalling Media Encoder, it now crashes upon attempting to create Proxy files with the below message:

Thanks again for helping me to resolve this!

There is no elegant way to do this in AE and have it appear in like manner in PPro. You'll have to create separate Text Layers for each Paragraph Style you want. To make matters more of a hassle, you can't pickwhip the Source Text from one Text Layer onto another if you want differentiated Paragraph Styles but identical text. Unfortunately, Paragraph Panel props/options, like most Character Panel props/options cannot be reached by Expressions.

Unresponsive after Premiere Pro CC 13.0.2 update

After I installed the 13.0.2 update on my mac Premiere Pro CC became unusable and eventually unresponsive.

13.0.1 works fine on my 4 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac with 16 GB of RAM.  Its been great, 4K, effects, not a hiccup.

With 13.0.3 update Premiere Pro will open a project, then quickly consume all available RAM.    All actions on the mac are extremely slow, editing is impossible.  Just sitting open Premiere Pro is writing and reading to RAM. Back and forth 300+MB/s.   When I try to quit PP, I get the eternal spinning beachball and I must force quit.

Adobe tech support tells me I need 32GB of RAM minimum and Mojave to run PP CC 2019 or I can roll back to 2018.

Nozmo,

Try updating to the latest GPU drivers from the NVIDIA website for your GPU and that should solve your issue. Let us know if you need help with that.

Sorry for the frustration.

Premiere Pro 2019 bad performance on Surface Book

$

I have been using Premiere for the last several years for video editing for our company.  I just updated to 2019 and I could not be more disappointed.  The entire program is soooo slow, especially compared to the most recent version.  I am running a brand new Microsoft surface book 2, with all kinds of power.  The program hesitates just to move between screens when moving to render  The timeline barely moves - and I am running at 1/2 to 1/4 resolution.  I thought this update was going to be about performance!  Apparently not!  If you need some sort of updating to different version of drivers to run this program Adobe should be specific about that.  I am not a computer guru, so updating drivers and whatnot can be problematic if you don't know exactly what you are doing. Why does Adobe not care a little bit more about their customers?

Anyway, I am frustrated as our most recent project is taking longer than it should.  I have been doing some testing with Davinci Resolve and this program sure looks promising.
