Re: Is there any way to retain rendering files from the previous version?

Some of .... no, make that much! ... of the editing process is so freaking tedious. Listening through every bit of interviews even in my small projects to get a feel, then select out likely bits then order them, trim, reorder ...

I can spend hours playing with color. Thirty minutes listening to interviews is FREAKING FOR FLIPPING EVER.

Setting my computer to make proxies, t-codes, renders while I do something else is relatively painless for me.

At Adobe MAX, I talked with a gal who LOVES her job at a house doing interview based documentaries. Loves listening watching people talk, and figuring out a good story to make of it all.

To each their own I'm sure ... lol

If your material coming in are in upper bit depths and such, and you don't use 8-bit effects on it, then export to 4.4 4.4, your data will all go through.

Master clip Question

Hi Forum.

I insert my clip on to the timeline, I chopped it up making it into 10 clips, and I wanted all clips to have the same FX, so I insert the FX (black and white) in the master clip palate. Now I'm trying to delete on one of those clips the Black and white FX, but I cannot figure out how to get around this, I even put the clip on another track, but the FX still is there. When I toggle the FX in the master FX palette it affects all the clips not just that one which I have selected.

Kind regards.

scewed coloring with premier pro 2019

Premier pro was acting a little temperamental this evening, so I checked for updates and updated to premier pro 2019. Now my coloring is totally messed up as you can see in the screenshot. The clip on the left was shot on an iPhone X and the one on the right on a Panasonic Lumix G7. I saw a note about updating GPU controls, so I did that, but it is still like this. I am suspicious that there is a setting that I am missing, but I can't find anything about it. Can someone help me to get this fixed?

This behavior is to be expected because adding a master clip effect is modifying the appearance of the source clip prior to it being placed on the timeline, so it appears in all instances and is not optional per instance.

There is no instant fix for this, but what you can do is:

In the Project Panel, duplicate the source clip that has the master clip effect added to it (select the clip and once selected go to the menu Edit > Duplicate).

Once the clip is duplicated, double click on the copy that was just made to load it to the source monitor. Click on the Effect Controls tab and then in the Master Clip Effect tab, delete the black and white effect.

Now you should have the source clip without the black and white effect on it in the source monitor.

Find the scene you want to edit to the timeline to replace the scene that is already on the timeline with the black and white Master Clip Effect and replace that clip on the timeline.

Program view goes white when video paused?

My program window goes white when I hit pause while editing.  When I click and drag the playhead I can see the video, but when I release the playhead the program window goes white again.  Might this be due to my image size, which is much larger than the 640 x 360 in the tutorials and where I don't have this issue?  The image size I am using defaulted to 3840 x 2160.

What is your GPU?

The 2019 version does not work with most of the GTX600 series and earlier cards, and some 700 series.

If you change your Mercury Acceleration setting in the Project Settings dialog to Software Only, does this clear up?

I solved the issue by changing the paused resolution to 1/8, which I accessed by clicking on the "wrench icon" in the lower RH corner of the Program Window.

Delay when adding markers to audio

Hello!

I have been having this issue for awhile now. When I am adding markers to audio (by clicking “m” on my keyboard) there seems to be a delay. It never fails, you can see in the timeline that it “freezes/delayed” I will click “m” and it won’t add the marker until a few milliseconds and at times a second. Has anyone experienced this? If yes, do you have a solution?

Thank you!

Lari

I am trying to export a 2 minute video and it says the estimated time will take 7 hours and 50 minutes. It used to not be like this but something changed and premiere pro is severely laggy. I did not change any settings and started today. When i export the window says encoding IMG_0099 ( a picture i used in the video ) any help would be appreciated thank you.

Is your timeline set to display frames or audio units? It sounds like it puts the marker at the next frame. I think set for audio units it would work as you wish.

Great, it worked fine, thanks Meg, also while I was trying to get around this problem, I made the clip which was cut, into a sub clip, renamed it, and then replaced it with the one from the timeline.

Editing verticle video with the intention of exporting verticle

Hi,

With IGTV and other social sites like TikTok only supporting vertical video, I have taken to filming vertical clips on my phone and want to edit them in PP.

Is there a way of editing vertical clips in PP and, if possible, create proxies (may not be required due to small clip size) and exporting the finished video as a vertical?

I have seen plenty of "how tos" on turning vertical into horizontal but that's not what I want to do.

Thanks!

Cheers!

new PC build

Hi Forum, ( mod Please move discussion in hardware forum)

After doing research, I have came to the following

specs for a nearby future build, not too expensive but stable enough for mid range projects. I'd like to hear some feedback from those who are tech savvy. Please take in mind, I'm not a fanboy of the red or blue team, this is the budget ($4000 AUSD) I have for video editing performance, ( AMD gives you a bang for your buck thus choosing to go with AMD).

I have outlined the most important components, and if I would ad something else or subtract from the following specs what would be a better choice?

Kind regards.

Re: All Premiere Pro project files have disappeared from everywhere!

Files and folders rarely if ever go missing and "auto delete" themselves. Even with a virus this is something rare are viruses generally target an extension like an .exe etc. I have never heard of a virus targeting a .pproj file. Yet some viruses do exist that target folders themselves. I highly doubt this is the case in this matter. It is really easy to "misplace" files and folders if your workflow is not set up correctly from the beginning. Get into the habit of creating a folder, naming it correctly and then creating subfolder within it with RAW FOOTAGE, AUDIO, VFX, STILLS etc. In this way they are all in one place, visible and easily recognizable.

Hi Brit.

Can you explain how you have set up your workflow. I would also be interested to understand how you have set your scratch disk folders up. Please let me know so I can point you in the right direction where you won't run into these issues again

First of all, you should add your system and app details so people can see what you're working with. Also is this exporting right out of Premiere or using Media Encoder?

Re: that image. I would make sure it's not 300dpi, non-RGB or just a very large file as these can all cause problems on most video editing platforms. If it is too large, simply take it into Photoshop (or whatever you use for image editing) and reduce the image to a more appropriate dimension and resolution for your video i.e. 1920 x 1080 for HD etc. DPI should be 72 and it should be in an RGB colorspace.

If that fails then consider this: Many people experienced issues when updating to the latest version of Premiere Pro. Did you recently update?
