A low-level exeption occurred in: Lumetri Color (AEVideoFilter:14)

I am working with Arri footage that has an embedded LUT.

Everything was going well but after two days of work I open the project and the LUT doesn't show anymore and I get this error message "a low-level exeption occurred in: Lumetri Color (AEVideoFilter:14)" even when I disable the effect on the source clips. The footage still plays but I get an error message every time I open the clips in the source monitor - definitely not ideal...

I am working with Premiere Pro CC 2019 on a PC with Windows 10.

Processor Intel Core i7

RAM 32Gb

I can't understand what is going wrong so any ideas would help.

Thank you in advance.

Can't recover highlights from RAW footage

I can't seem to recover highlights in RAW footage using Premiere the way I can using ACR in After Effects.

You can see the stark difference below. First image is Premiere, bottom is AE.

I have already tried using the Master controls slider for CinemaDNG. It appears to do the same thing as the Lumetri controls.

What am I doing wrong?

Hey FlyDigital,

Here's the paths for the .kys files! I also believe what Averdahl said is true about transferring preferences between CC 2018 and 2019, although I haven't done it myself so I don't know 100% for sure.

The location of the customized keyboard shortcuts file depends on whether you've signed in to  Creative Cloud Sync Settings in Premiere Pro CC or not.Signed into Creative Cloud Sync Settings

  • Win: Users\[user name]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\[version]\Profile-CreativeCloud-\Win\
  • Mac: Users/[user name]/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/[version]/Profile-CreativeCloud-/Mac/

Signed out of Creative Cloud Sync Settings

  • Win: Users\[user name]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\[version]\Profile-username\Win\
  • Mac: Users/[user name]/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/[version]/Profile-username/Mac/

My apologies for not following up. andrewh above is right as far as I know. The pixel motion blur in Premiere is messed up, and doesn't seem to be high on the list of priorities. I hope you're listening, Adobe...

I ended up just jumping into After Effects if I need these types of effects. If you have access to After Effects, then use Pixel Motion blur there, CC Force Blur, or even just the composition motion blur, which are all better options IMO. But if you're stuck using Premiere, know that pixel motion blur uses some component of the "Timewarp" effect. Use that effect (don't forget to put the speed to 100% or where you want it, it seems to default to 50%). Then scroll down to the motion blur part of the effect and check "Enable Motion Blur".

Yeah I've noticed the same thing, the frame interpolation in premiere (optical flow) is garbage vs. composition pixel motion blur in AE, which is pretty dece. Was hoping to do a quick and dirty time warp in Premiere, but ended up just using AE. Fine tune as you see fit as mdotson90 suggests.

Trash cache/media cache database files ... the location will be in your Preferences/Media Cache dialog. Close PrPro, go to those folders in Finder/Explorer, and delete everything in them.

Reboot, then relaunch, giving PrPro a few minutes to rebuild. Hopefully this fixes it ... if not, post back!

Having Completely unacceptable lag issues with playback!!!!!!!!! On a Mac Pro (Late 2013) 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3.

I can't even get the playhead to load the frame when I move it. I hit spacebar it takes 10 seconds plus to start playing. I have tried EVERY video preview setting they have. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED F-ING FAST OR IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON TO AVID!

Cannot now drag a sequence to a new sequence on timeline - can you help?

OMG - why god - WHY - does this xxxx ALWAYS seem to happen to me!?

Everything was going great.  I was working very fast and I often create multi layer sequences, then drag that sequence onto another sequence.  But as I was working I hit some key or other and it changed everything in my settings.

So I put everything back (at least I thought I did) and now I cannot drag a sequence onto another sequence.  See below:

drag sequence.jpg

I mean is there some kind of command that prevents this from happening? Do I have to file my fingers down to nothing to avoid hitting a key or two and throwing this off completely like this? I tried changing those controls in the circle - the first one when it's blue allows me to drag it but all of the sequence layers show up. I don't want that.

Anyway, I'd appreciate the help very much - I tried Googling this and nothing stood out for me.

Thank you.

One thing that might have made a difference in my case: The sequence settings didn't match the footage settings.  I cut out the section that I wanted to morph, pasted it into a sequence that matched the footage (XDCAM EX), and then rendered it.  Seemed to work, at least it got me through today.

Premiere pro, media encoder and mojave. Constant crashing.

I upgraded to premiere pro 2019 and Mojave around the same time (individually, bad ideas... done together: career suicide). Ever since, I get a repeated crash and unbelievable slowness. A dialogue box asking me to repair creative cloud, endless beachball, the works. I have resorted to using PP2018 and not using media encoder at all. Time was, apple didn't release things in major technical debt. Neither did adobe. Those days are gone. Now they force their customers to do their R&D for them, while having to pull all nighters and late hours due to this crap. All for the low low price of $50 a month.

Adobe, when are you going to release an update that debugs everything and gets out in front of Apple's Mojave nightmare?

Re: Premiere asking to sync fonts every time I open the same project

I can see that Bebas Neue is the font you are using. That is a known problem which happens with this particular font, and possibly others, because the older font was deprecated and there is a newer one with the same name. So you get stuck in that loop. The workaround is unsync both versions and then try to sync the newer version up again. I have a report open for this with the Adobe Fonts team. I will check on the status of that report and make sure it is getting the attention it needs.

Every time I open projects with synced fonts, the dialogue comes up that some fonts need to be synced.

What are the fonts that are not syncing correctly? Please attach a screenshot if possible.

Colors change (become less vibrant) when exporting

I have noticed that during the past few days whenever I export a clip, no matter to what quality, I lose vibrance. I export by matching source and everything but this still occurs. top image is in Premiere, bottom is after exporting. What might be the reason for it?

Thank you. I unsync'ed Bebas Neue, and then re-sync'ed it. No change in behavior.

alinap8615352 did you ever get a solution for that? I have just now started encountering this too and am lost since everything comes out less vibrant...

Rate Stretch + Optical Flow issue ONLY at out point

I'm slowing a clip down considerably, to 26%, then interpolating with optical flow. Looks great, very smooth, no artifacts after rendering preview.

However, no matter how long or short I make the clip, just before the final frame 3-4 frames are freezing (or duplicating, basically a frame hold for a few frames) and then it resumes on what would be the correct final clip frame if it hadn't froze (in other words, I can't just trim out the freeze, the frames are skipped anyway).

These frames are all there before I render and the hold issue always occurs just before the end of the clip no matter where I choose to end it.

I'm frustrated because I finally got the slow motion to look perfect for a looping graphic and now it jitters right at the loop point so it's not seamless.

I've tried changing the speed but it doesn't look as good, and tried interpolating with Frame Blending but it also doesn't look as good.

26% with Optical Flow creates EXACTLY the look I want, but there's this weird frame issue that's otherwise ruining the loop.

Anyone ever had this problem? I know optical flow isn't usually ideal when slowing a clip down this much, but it's working so beautifully up to those last few frames. I need them only because it's a looping file.

Stretch it out so that you end up with the correct last frame before the glitch.  Set an Out point on that last frame and Export out a new clip for continued editing.

"Variants of this question have been covered to death on this and every other color grading forum. The answer is always the same.  The only way to get a [proper] image you can trust is to run SDI [or HDMI] out to an accurately calibrated reference monitor.  Grading by viewing the image in the GUI just doesn't work."  - Jamie LeJeune
