Re: PP 2019 Frame drop during playback.

No, I don't think it's anything you did. I'm having lots of issues with Premiere 2019 since updating...

It keeps crashing a lot (never did it before) and often 4K clips crash it as well.

I hope all issues will be fixed in an update (hopefully soon)

Preference trashed on every update

This is a plea to developers of Premiere. Please can you sort out the issue where preferences get lost every time I do an upgrade (once a year roughly). This doesn't happen with After Effects but with Premiere I lose my keyboard settings.

Can you not simply copy over the preferences from the previous version? Even using the 'sync settings now' doesn't do anything. As someone who has come from FCP7, fine tuning the keyboard to how I want has many settings to refine, and in the 8 years of using this programme I've had to repeat it every year.

Doesn't work anymore for Photoshop. Any new?

Now this has reared its ugly head for me, too.  Nothing seems to work.  Of course I'm on a tight schedule.  This software-as-a-service model stinks.  I miss the days of getting a boxed product that worked and wasn't being constantly "fixed" by patches that sometimes break as much as they fix.

Importer reported a generic error

OK - I'm baffled. After updating MacOS (10.14) and Premiere (13.0 - Build 225) I'm getting a "the importer has reported a generic error" message. Most clips relink like they should. I have a random folder or two of clips that do not relink. The same camera and codecs are used in other folders but for some reason this one folder doesn't relink. A "generic" error message doesn't help. Yes, I've tried to copy the clips into another folder that has been renamed and still get the same message. Again, it's from the same camera and the same codecs as the other folders that don't have a problem relinking. Anyone else have the same problem? Any way to resolve this "generic" issue? I'm not going to go off on the tangent of repeated crashes (yes, I've had several) but it would be nice if I could at least work with my media.

Using Premiere Pro 2019 and it's still an issue. It's happening for me when using DeReverb on the Audio Track Mixer. I get severe hisses during playback, which are worse in the export.

For now you can either open the Keyboard Shorcut dialog and see if you can find your shortcuts in the Keyboard Layout Preset.

If that won´t work, use Finder to find the *.kys file and move it manually to the folder that looks like this on Windows: C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\13.0\Profile-UserName\Win (Not sure yet about the Mac equivalent.)

If i remember correctly when i upgrade i got a dialog that asked me if i wanted to transfer the Preferences from CC 2018 to CC 2019 and when i did everything worked as expected and i could use my shortcuts. It was the first time i saw this happen.

Re: Adobe Premier Pro CC showing White Screen

It's November 2018 and this is still a significant issue. I had a 2-3 hour phone call with an adobe engineer several weeks ago - he remoted into my machine and the workaround he discovered was to log in not with my windows profile, but with the administrator profile. Fast forward two months: even that no longer works. The work arounds regarding changing work spaces work until I try to open an individual video file to preview, and the displays freak out, freeze, and return to just a white screen.

System information:

Version    10.0.17134 Build 17134

Processor    AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor, 3400 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)

BIOS Version/Date    American Megatrends Inc. 4012, 4/20/2018

Adapter Type    GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, NVIDIA compatible

Running dual monitors - because editing on one is a nightmare.

I'm on a custom built windows 10 machine with a brand new 1080ti, and 32gb of ram. I built this machine with my own personal cash mixed in with approved funds from my employer, and it's not great news to them that the machine they helped build can't function for its intended purpose. Has anyone at Adobe found an actual real solution for this?

I've been a paying adobe subcriber for years, and now I'm 3-4 months into barely being able to use the software for which I'm paying. Unacceptable.

Hey this might sound like a stupid question but what 'console' so I write the code found in #26 in to?

Re: How to remove black edges?

Black bars are caused by a mismatch between the resolution of the media and the resolution of the sequence.  To get rid of black bars, both need to match.

Re: Color Management in Premiere doesn't match the export

My problem is simply that I can't afford one.

I don't use one myself.  No room for it in the current edit suite.

Your only other option is to export the video and watch it on a calibrated TV somewhere else.  I use the plasma in my living room home theater.

The point is, you have to get it onto a calibrated display from a hardware player.  Somehow.  You need to to ensure you're seeing the signal accurately.  You have to eliminate variables from the signal path (like the OS, GPU driver, software players, etc.) which can, and frequently do, alter the signal.

I pay for help on set, but I'm alone in post.

It's tedious, but all part of the job.

The current version of Premiere is 13.0.1 - make sure you update because it fixed a variety of bugs (not sure if this is one of them, but it would be worth a shot).

This just happened to me again this morning. First project I am working on for the day. Computer was not rebooted. Just logged in and opened Premiere. I know you guys know what the UI looks like but just wanted to paste these here anyway.

No sound at all. Why? No reason. Nothing else is muted or Solo'd:

Screen Shot 2018-11-29 at 11.39.14 AM.png

Clicked Solo on Audio 2. Got sound on audio 2. Then unclicked Solo. And now all sound works as expected.

Why?

No reason.

I had the same issue which turned out to be because of audio effects I'd applied to the whole track via Audio Track Mixer. If you're doing the same, try adding to individual clips instead. Not ideal but could be a fix if you're still having trouble.
