I think manually cleaning the Media Cache files can also help in solving the issue, you delete the media cache for the clips or for all clips stored in the following locations -

Mac:/Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common

Windows:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common

Using Media encoder to encode the video can decrease the quality depending on the codec you're using to encode the video. You can use Cineform with High quality to keep the quality of the video & it works as well with Premiere Pro for editing

1. The media using within premiere pro - What do you have in mind?

2. Premiere Pro version - 12.0.1

3. Hard Disk is SSD or normal HDD? - SSD Samsung

4. Sequence settings -

5. Did you try switching from OpenCL to Software only from Project Settings? - Perhaps only for the project, I do not know where to set up

Hi. I need to export a Quicktime file with 5 audio channels, 4 mono (L, R, M&E L, M&E R) and one 5.1 (mixed) channel.

Been trying everything and haven't been able to do it correctly. Any help on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You mean that text colour for example in the Essentials Graphic panel is Red but in the program panel text colour is white. Can share the screenshot of premiere pro with Essentials Graphic, timeline & Program Panel in view.

By media I mean the clips showing Red Bar has which format & codec.

In the Project, Settings change the Renderer from Mercury Playback  (OpenCL)  to Software only from -

Cineform? I didn't know what it was but thought it might be a preset. I looked through all the presets until I found these - see screenshotcineform.jpg

Fixed by opening lumetri color panel, than closing. Making this untill all the cache reads at the begining then moving on working.

Thanks Adobe. Dont add features, just make it stable...

SO ANOTHER UPDATE

When gpu acceleration is enabled, intel graphics gets in the way somehow. Disabled intel graphics from device manager, cahche and playback issues are not present.

Media - mp4 (mpeg movie) 59.94 fps 1920x1080

In the Project, Settings change the Renderer from Mercury Playback  (OpenCL)  to Software only from - If I choose this, everything will become even slower.

Also, do you delete the folder itself called "Media Cache files" ? Or do you just delete its contents.
There was also a folder just called "Media Cache" but I think it must be the one called "Media Cache Files" as that held a lot of files whose names I recognised from my project. Hope that's right.

Wow. Surprising answer. While waiting for response, I did some research on my own and I have to say that is not quite the answer. While it is a old Mac Pro, it was built to last for a little while. After all, it's only SIX YEARS OLD!. After further research, I am finding a card that can replace the one I have, which IS old. My workaround presently has been to use the 2018 version of Premiere Pro which has solved the slow render issue while I wait for the new card to arrive.

FYI, the reason so many of us have not gone to the new Mac Pro is unlike the 2012 which has allowed us to use several hard drives and boot in multiple OS, the new one limits us. Thus we are all waiting for Apple to do the right thing with a new Mac Pro which we expect in 2019.

Thanks for your assistance.

H Mo,

Thank you for your reply. Let me answer what I can below:

1. Raw footage info - Here are some details on the footage shot on a canon XF300:

Type: MXF

Image Size: 1920 x 1080

Frame Rate: 29.97

Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

2. Sequence Settings - Here I admit I am a little spoiled. I have had so much success in the premiere and the canon that sometimes I forget to set these up once I get footage into a project. I make a sequence and go sometimes. Here is the settings on this sequence:

Editing Mode: Sony XDCAM HD422 1080 NTSC

Timebase 29.97 fps

Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square pixels (1.0)

Fields: Upper Field First

Display Format: 29.97 fps Drop Frame Timecode

Audio Sample Rate 48000 Hz

Display Format: Audio Samples

Composite in Linear Color

3. Are there any effects or grading effects done - Yes. Here is what I used:

Effects:

Ultra Key

Opacity

Fill Right with Left Audio

Hard Limiter Audio

In speaking with Premiere techs yesterday, we deduced it was the video card which although it CAN handle Mojave, renders EXTREMELY slowly. We reinstalled the Premiere Pro 2018 version & everything is humming again. I'm presently looking for a new card if you have suggestions. One more note, I am using Mojave with a Samsung SSD 860 Pro drive and have fallen in love with SSD already. lol. Great speed.

R Neil Haugen I have 2 of the same Macs I use on TVC's etc. The Mid 2012 5.1 quad (8 core) macs with a GTX 680 is by no means a slouch. Only bottlenecks are the 1333 RAM and the half bandwidth SATA interfaces for internal SSD's. I don't think the problem is the hardware. Lets see what Kemi comes back with and see if we can assist

Your comments on workflow is 100% on point! I admit, the ease of operation on short form video makes me a little lazy on tech issues I know I should be doing (such as those pesky sequence settings). I do a lot of commercials and short films so it's easy to get it done with this machine. But your info about sequence settings alone made me pause with an aha! moment.

Thanks for that!

Re: Premiere Pro CC2018 unusable

I have 2 different macs with the same specs but different OS and different versions of Premiere. They are both practically unusable although the one with Mavericks and Premiere 2015.4 is WAY more stable.

They suffer from different issues at different times for no apparent reason but it's guaranteed that no job will be easy or simple. Clips not showing audio, clips not showing video, clips marked as missing when rendering while they are there. Premiere giving errors when trying to open a file created the previous day... I could go on and on.

Today all I had to do was render a short composition. 4 hours later I still haven't managed it and my only solution is to keep trying and hope for the best. Adobe support is beyond pointless. One minute they are telling you to upgrade to the latest version of Premiere to resolve your issues and when this doesn't work, the next support person tells you that your problems are caused by the latest version and that you should downgrade. The first thing support wants to do nowadays is take remote control of your machine! This happens before even reading what the issue is. Sure, you can't make reliable software so I'm going to let you loose on my machine!
