Re: Premiere Pro CC 2018 Doesn't seem to be able to search the Project Panel

NoLens: Why are you pressing Enter? I've never done this or seen this done in training. When you say "Pic 2 is me having typed that file in the search field, before hitting enter," I see the file appear in your list, so the filtering is working. That text field is actually for filtering bin content, not searching.

However, it is odd that your exact filter entry (DFLM0637) reveals assets with names other than "DFLM0637" in them. When I filter on an exact asset name, only that asset appears; as I delete letters from the filter entry, more assets appear in the list because they match the new filter. I just tried this myself (in latest release of Premiere Pro 2018, ver. 12.0.0).

Before filtering:

The simplest might just be to recreate the proxies on the other system.

Adobe, please address this.  What am I supposed to do to add captions now?  On a tight deadline, and none of the above-mentioned options are working.

Re: Very Slow Imports

I feel the pain. WAV files are bad enough, but today I've been waiting for about 3-5 minutes every time I update a file sequence. Does no one at Adobe test with real-world workflows? Why should it take 3 minutes to read a directory of 6000 TIFF files? And: That's the only thing in the directory. AfterEffects also takes forever to read the sequence, but at least I don't have to wait to import it -- I can use frame.0000 to ident the sequence, and it loads in. Premiere won't load the sequence until the whole directory is read. Are they doing a bubble-sort using FORTRAN or something when reading a directory? (tho' that would probably be faster)
Massive bug!

I tried restoring Fonts in Windows 10 but they seem not to work.  I've deleted them all and downloaded default Windows 10 fonts.  Still the same issue.  My GeForce Drivers are up to date.   Hmm...  Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks in advance!

Re: How can I recover deleted files from recycle bin?

I had the same problem. Everyone can face it, I guess. When it happened, I thought nothing would help, but I was lucky to find a software Disk Drill: How to Recover Files Deleted from Recycle Bin for FREE. This program helped me to get all my files back. The only one disadvantage I found is that a free version of the program can recover up to 100MB of data, so if you lost more, you will have you buy another version. Though it is not cheap, it is really helpful. As I lost very important images and documents, it was worth it.

The black screen, I'm not sure.  I can't duplicate the issue here on Windows 10 Pro (1703).

Nozmo: Please post a screen shot of your screen before you use "save as" and afterwards so we can see what you're experiencing.

I've been trying to edit with Premiere for decades now. The only real time I have had any realistic stability is BETWEEN updates, after you've implemented all the workarounds for the current bugs (that often stay between versions for many updates, minor and major) and you can use the software reasonably reliably for a time.

The biggest problem that is not as widely seen is the utter destruction of productivity caused by what appear to me to be Adobe's disorganized and illogical changes and I'm afraid to say, total lack of usable UI. Professionals are stymied by these choices by Adobe because we can't rely on the product - in the middle of an urgent work timeline you can come across a bug (of which there were remarkably many that persisted through versions) or a UI change from the last version that ends up wasting an hour or more of your time. The Help and Search is so general it is almost completely useless so you're relegated to crawling through community forums and because of the seemingly arbitrary (especially as they don't appear to follow any standard UX guidelines) macro changes to everything (file locations, presets, UI placement, functions) between versions the help for one version is not useful for the help for another version - and the search doesn't distinguish usefully between versions either.

Apologies for ranting on your comment. Adobe needs to address this urgently.

Setting screen size for multiple-screen video

$

I've been working on a multiple screen video in Premier Pro CC. I was able to use 4 different videos in a square grid. When I exported it I noticed that it shrunk it down to 325.  The original files are 720 (in a square format).  I want to keep the video clips in that 720 format and make the screen larger but when I import my videos it only recognizes the original size and I don't know how to create a 1080 screen where I can drop the square videos I have in their original size. How do I do that?

Big no. Gone are the days when Premiere came bundles with lots of effects like smaller versions of  borisfx, hollywoodfx, inscriber CG and Final Effects and co. But you can add some of them as 3rd party plugins. But beware in Premiere CC the plugins crash all the time

Newbluefx works extremely well with CS6 but caution if you try in CC2015up

plugins crash all the time

That likely depends on your system and the plug-ins you're using.  Mine never crashes.

Hi Rob,

We have a similar process for escalating issues and reporting back to customers that have important bugs. We do not yet respond to every bug report or feature request, but I hope we will have better processes in place to communicate better with customers.

If you ever have an issue that cannot be solved in 48 hours by our video queue, be sure to PM me. Thank you for bringing the topic to my attention.

Thanks,
Kevin
