AE Comps imported into PP via Dynamic Link - Originals work, copies are broken

I have made several titles and Lower Third templates in After Effects. I've imported the comp into PP via Adobe Dynamic Link, and over the course of the project, have copied this comp several times for different lower thirds. I am using three different comps from AE.

After upgrading to PP2019, the original comp that I imported works just fine, but all of the copies of that comp say, "Media Pending."

Getting a couple simple questions answered by you could lead to an actual answer.

1) Are you referring to the phrase "software encoding only" in the Summary section of the Export dialog?

2) Are you exporting something that actually uses the GPU during export like say Lumetri color correction but your system says the GPU is inactive during export of said clip?

If the first is "yes"  ... that Summary section phrase only refers to the presence or lack thereof in your CPU of Intel's new QuickSync hardware embedded in some recent CPUs. Which only comes into play during encoding of H 264 codecs. If your CPU has QuickSync and it's enabled, you get a hardware encoding phrase there while exporting to H 264.

Any effects on the GPU Accelerated Effects List will still be processed within Pr using the GPU as the CPU sends data to be processed.

If 2) is your situation ... first, make sure you have something like Lumetri corrections done to a clip. Maybe add a couple other effects from that GPU Accelerated list for good measure.

Then export while watching the system report on resources used to see what work if any was passed to your GPU.

If you have Mercury Acceleration on CUDA in the Project settings but nothing on the GPU Accelerated list is using GPU, then check manually on the Nvidia site to make sure you have the latest drivers.

And ... remember  ... the GPU is *only* used while processing things on the GPU Accelerated list  ... while such clips are being processed  ... and only works as much as the CPU sends stuff for it to work on.

1. A little scare to update manually because in the past I have problem with dell when I installed something from outside their site. Intel wrote abut it too.

2. Mercury Acceleration on Software only - works fine

Hi ddubczak,

Sorry for the dynamic Link issue. Just for a test, try opening the copies in the latest version of After Effects, save and check if they work in Premiere Pro.

Please let us know the status.

Thanks,

Vidya

Hi Ernst,

Sorry for the issue. It can be a compatibility issue with the GPU driver.

To corner the issue, change the renderer in project settings to Software only and see if it fixes the issue.

Here are the steps: FAQ: How to change the Video Renderer in Premiere Pro?

Please let us know the status.

wrong timecode essential graphic when i upgrade to master graphic

$

Hi guys! i found an issue when i simply do the "upgrade to master graphic" on my text animation. Here's my workflow:

On my timeline i start to write text and shapes. Then i start to animate it. When i'm ready i save it to my personal library as backup. Everything works well. But, if i need to upgrade this essential graphic to master graphic on my project, i found a big issue on timecode: for example, my essential graphic it's five 5 seconds long. When i upgrade to master graphic, this new "shape" clip it's 12 hours long, and my animation starts at 1 hour following timecode. This is the first issue, and last but not least, if i do double click to this new clip on my project, it open correctly to the preview monitor with IN OUT points from 1 hour to 1 hour and 5 seconds. After that if i put this to my timeline, the timecode clip portion starts to 2 hours, so my clip it's black. If i re-do this drag and drop, the shape's timecode starts at 3 hours.

If if delete from my preview monitor IN OUT points and i put only my OUT point at 5 seconds from start, from 00.00.00.00, on my preview monitor i see nothing, all black screen, but if do drag and drop on my timeline, i see correctly my good animation. What's wrong? Is it a bug or i have to ceck some preferences on graphic essentils panel?

Many thanks!!!

The timecode shows hours:minutes:seconds:frames

So that's showing say 1 minute, 35 seconds, and 18 frames in one of your examples. Not hours.

Not quit sure I understand the rest of it though.

Hi Neil! No, the timecode that you say it's the sequence timecode. I speak about the essential graphic's timecode. When you create a new essential graphic or when you import a new essential graphic, it timecode starts always from 01.00.00.00 so one hour (you can ceck it it you enable the metadata as overlays on program monitor), not at 00.00.00.00 and this will create an issue when you update to master graphic.

chrisw44157881 that is some impressive technical info you just presented!

Can you put some of that in practical context? Like how would one go about implementing bt1886 in the MacOS color manager? bt1886 is not listed in my Display profile list in my System Preferences color manager utility. a bt1886 to srgb preview lut or madVR with BT.1886 lut playback... to do that do I need additional hardware, or is there a software utility that enables that? Maybe you can be a little more specific. Where does one find a bt1886 to srgb preview LUTs, or madVR with BT.1886 LUTs?

OK... I've had about enough of this ... I was going to write that "regardless of VLCs color profile, it seems to match the Pr Pro Program window pretty well..." and started going through the various Display profiles with the Program window, Export Settings window, and VLC player open on my Retina Display. I wanted to find the profile that got the best match between the Source window and the VLC player from last night...

1. The Program window and the Export Settings Output window are matching better today than yesterday and the VLC player is now slightly off in all of the Display profiles I checked... (Different ambient light in the room than last night?)

2. ... until I reached a profile called "DCDM X'Y'Z' D60 Gamma 2.6"... at which point the Pr Pro windows have shifted into some weird desaturated green color space and the VLC player hasn't changed. In other words WTF! ... There is no handbook for this! Apparently the Display profiles effect various softwares differently. I'm getting the feeling there is no such thing as "what you see is what you get". Too many variables.

Hi, when I open any kind of old project, premiere doesn't show on program monitor what I edit in timeline. It's impossible to do any action.

When I try to change the workspace, it crash.

Same for new project. I open Premiere, i create a new project, import clips, and then it's impossible to see in any monitor, timeline doesn't work.

Same on two differents computer.

Macbook pro, late 2017, 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 16gb ram, ssd, Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB.

OK, no response. Final Cut Pro X trial reframing and sharing works straight off so going with that.
