Your adjustment layer idea got me to thinking.I put transparent video above the clip and apply the effect to it instead of the clip. I just tried it. Works but lightning looks abit funky.

As a mod, having CS6 lumped in with CS5.x makes my job a little easier I can see that. But I think separate would be better for users, and that user needs trump mod needs.

That is strange. But again, maybe instead of using subclips, just set In/Out points in the Source Monitor and add that section to the sequence. Basically, don't use subclips.
