Re: Any way to get frame accurate in icon view mode?

Steven, it's a great thought but I don't think we could write anything that hasn't already been written!  The article Kevin pointed out is a good example.  There's tons of stuff out there about switching, and most of my questions are answered by doing a Google or YouTube search.  Those that aren't, I come here to you fine folks.

The thing is... I think you put it perfectly in your post.  You said "I generally assume that they do not know the workaround."  Exactly, it's a workaround, meaning you're doing something to make up for the failings of something that's been given to you. To put it into perspective, say you switched to another NLE that you really liked, but there was no Cross Dissolve or Cross Fade.  So every time you wanted to make one of those, you had to overlap your two shots, pull out a pen tool and keyframe that action.  Takes a while.  So you go to the forums and say "Hey, where is the Cross Dissolve transition?   I must be doing this wrong."  And everyone says "There's no Cross Dissolve transition.  We just use the pen tool to do this."  That's how a lot of us feel.  There are things that seem as odd to us as not having a Cross Dissolve transition would seem to you.  Imagine switching to an NLE that had been around for over 20 years, and still didn't have a Cross Dissolve.  This isn't an issue of workflow, this isn't another way to do things, this isn't a "my old program I switched from was way better".  This is a Cross Dissolve.  And it ain't there.

It would raise some questions.

It doesn't mean we don't appreciate the help from people like yourself, or the attention the company gives or ultimately even PP as a tool.  So don't stop giving the suggestions and offering the workarounds, really it's exactly what we're looking for.  It's just that it doesn't stop us from scratching our heads on how a program could be so advanced... without having some basic things that we have to "workaround" numerous times each edit session.

On another note, I did want to mention that Kevin's solution for my Icon View question is working great, and if anyone else is reading this looking for the same solution, I've also found out that you can hold down the "K" key and the press and hold down the "J" or "L" key to do a very user-friendly scrub of the clip.  A huge help.

And for the record, I really do like PP.

Cheers.
