I have an update! It took a little over an hour for our guy with Adobe to help us solve this problem, but here is what it came down to:
The step which I did to get around the capture problem was to change the renderer under project settings to“software only” which is the CPU mode.
When you’re done with capturing media, go to the project settings and change the renderer back to“hardware acceleration”, i.e., the GPU mode.
