I have spent quite a bit of time trying to determine the root of the problem here, and I think that yours is the first suggestion that makes sense - that the problem is related to a gamma shift or related action. I spent around 4 hours with Adobe technical support and they really don't know what they are doing and were of no help at all. The problem at this point is that I do not have much of the technical knowledge needed to follow the suggestions in the article that you directed me to (about converting profiles in Photoshop). How would you feel about talking to me via phone about the problem and how to fix it? People have very different feelings about responding to a request of this kind - some feel that it is a lot to ask and others see it as no big deal and are happy to help. I respect the feelings of both kind of person. I am a math teacher by trade, and I have started a movie club with my students. We are having a lot of fun doing this (I've invested a good $3,000 in equipment, software, etc. in addition to the high end photographic equipment that I already have), and I am hoping to create a thriving after school activity around movie making. Let me know how you would feel about helping me. I have a natural inclination to shy away from taking up other people's time (I know how valuable mine is), so like I say, no big deal if you are not in a position to help. I think that doing this over the phone, however, would be much quicker than doing it via email.
