Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info.
Let me back up for a moment. I do not know what a "proper mic " is for a Mac computer. I have an Imac and two MacBook Pro's. On each of these computers there are two audio ports. One is marked for an external speaker and one is marked for earphones, but there is no port for a microphone to input sound. The only way I can get sound into any one of these Mac's is to use their built in microphone or use a USB external microphone. However, Premier Pro cannot, so far, see the USB mic, it only sees (lists - under audio hardware) the built in mic and in fact lists several built in input / built in output combinations which seem redundant to me.
Do you agree with this description that the only external mic available to me is a USB mic, or am I missing something? I do have a mic which uses a regular jack, but I cannot get the Mac to see that mic. I plugged it into the external speaker port and then into the earphone port, hoping one might be dual purpose, but the Mac never sees it.
