The only idea I have to to change cards.

Preview Render activity becomes inactive shortly after it starts - need to switch apps for before it becomes active again

Hi, I'm currently editing a music video in Premiere using dynamically linked comps in after effects. Once I'm finished with the AE comps and I go to Premiere to render clips (or the whole project in-out) Premiere will start to render previews as normal but shortly after it starts the render activity stalls. I then have to switch apps/desktops and go to the AE project and come back to Premiere (I have Premiere in one desktop and AE in another) in order for Premiere to sort of wake up again and continue rendering. Otherwise it just freezes. When I look at the Activity Monitor App (Mac) I can see that once I start rendering After Effects will allocate a good chunk of the CPU activity (60+%) only to suddenly drop to 10 or even 5% just after a couple of seconds. I've allocated 13 RAM out of my 16 RAM to be shared between Premiere and After Effects. It seems like after a couple of seconds it just freezes up, or like the RAM decides to stop working on its current course. As if I were putting to sleep the RAM activity. It is fixed by just quickly toggling desktops back and forth but it is very annoying as it forces me to have to do this non stop and sometimes render times take a while. I basically can't leave my computer rendering cause it won't do it unless I'm constantly moving between desktops and refreshing apps. Any ideas/solutions?

I would love to be able to start rendering and be able to go do something else and come back to a finished rendered timeline. Is that too much to ask? God help me.

Re: Color Management in Premiere doesn't match the export

The color corrected exported clip brought back into the Pr project actually does not exactly match the Program window from which the export came... That just surprised me!

The clip imported into Pr looks different from it's genesis sequence and from that clip itself opened in VLC player (all compared to each other on the same monitore)... VLC player matches Program window in Pr... Source window in Pr of the same clip deviates from the Program window in Pr... ?!?

This is what I am seeing. The video frame is set to the same resolution as the source but imports like this and then gives me all of these visual issues.

The assumption is that since the comparisons take place on a single monitor, the calibration of that monitor should be irrelevant since it is effecting all of the presentations of the "same" footage equally... That said... I made a comparison of the three presentations of the same clip (1.Pr Program window of color corrected timeline, 2. Pr Source window of exported timeline re-imported, 3. VLC player of exported timeline)

On my MBP Retina Display 1. and 3. match...

On my crap ASUS 4K gaming monitor with basically random monitor settings... none of them match...

So I guess the Monitor does matter... Un-normed monitors effect the colors each in their own "special" way. Ranges of colors are being depicted in unpredictable ways... even when compared next to each other on the same monitor.

This 10 minute video took 8 hours to Export at these settings. I want the best quality but at the lowest export time as possible and I have a feeling I'm going Overkill here.

Hi,

We've tried contacting you four different times but the connection keeps dropping. Do you have a spotty internet connection? Can you send me a PM as to a better way to reach you? Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have 505 GB available on my 1 TB drive...that should be plenty, I'm assuming.

Is there a reason you have Render at Maximum Depth checked?

FK_ARTS,

You can still use smart rendering with H.264 if you render previews to ProRes/Cineform as you edit. I render every time I walk away from my computer. By the time I'm ready to export everything is already rendered and ready to go for exporting via smart rendering, which takes seconds instead of hours. Try it out.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have been out of town, and just got back.  I will be trying the CC cleaner right now to see if that works.  Thanks!

1. I have NO idea what I'm doing. Thus why I'm asking for instructions on the optimal export settings for quality without going overboard and increasing my wait time for absolutely no reason.

2. It's checked because it was a common setting that was marked off in my research. "Everyone else was doing it, so I figured it was the right thing to do." It sounds like it would increase quality, I didn't think it was that odd.

Not able to batch re-link video files after converting team project to regular project

Hello!

I have recently converted some team projects to regular premiere projects and am finding that once that is done the file path is missing and batch re-linking is not possible. The only way I am able to re-link seems to be clip-by-clip (I named the bins in the project by camera so I am still able to easily find my clips despite the file path being missing - however since batch re-link is disabled it is proving to be way too time consuming to re-link clip by clip).

Has anyone found a resolution to this issue?! Thanks in advance!!!

Re clone, I’ve checked this and found that as I’m on Mac the automatic backup system  “time machine” is already a clone.

Other news from here is that on the way home after Xmas break, it seems my laptop screen got damaged so it’s now with the apple store for a rather expensive repair - a great start to 2019!!

For me it's working fine. Some people were reporting stability bugs, but most of them were solved by the regular preferences/Cache trashing, Or by optimizing their systems and workflows.

What are the specs of your system? Are you using a different software? or an older version of PP?
If you are using a different software, you can try PP for 30 days.
If you are using an older version I suggest the following:
1- Do not update if you have pending projects. Finish your important projects before updating.

2- When you update it, try it daily for 2-4 weeks, report any issues you might have, and If you did not feel comfortable, you can roll back to the older version.

Let me know.

Shooting in 2.4K, Exporting in 1080 - is that ok?

I'm recording mountain bike videos using a GoPro Hero 5 Session recording at 2.7K, 30 FPS.

I don't know anything about anything... I'm just doing this because it was suggested in my research.

I'm exporting for Youtube 1080HD. Should I just shoot in 1080 to begin with? What difference will it make?
